Whose God is it anyway?

I’m afraid it’s the tricky issue of religion today, folks. And the even trickier issue of how to parent two children with entirely different religious views, neither of them matching your own.

Wow, I just read about one-tenth of the comments, and I'm gobsmacked (not in a good way). For some reason, I believed that all creationists lived in Backwoods, Tennessee, and eschewed such evils as the Internet.

As to your questions, I see my sister struggling with the same issues with my niece, and I have only one piece of advice: whatever your views on God, tell your kids that Hammy went to heaven. We were raised on the American Indian notion of a paradise especially for animals after they died, and I found it very comforting when struggling with the mortality of beloved pets.

Hey Helen, thanks for your advice. It's pretty much what I went with - it makes her feel happy and safe for now - and that's my job, right? As for the commentators - yowzers. :-)
